Fun Friday: Alphabet Zoo Educational Toy

disclosureLearning Toys

If you’ll remember, last month I posted about this backpack from Lakeshore Learning. My kids really got a lot out of it and I thought it was a great product, so I was really excited when Lakeshore Learning asked if I would be interested in sharing a new education toy from their new Learning at Home collection, launched just this month!

I had a great selection of toys to choose from, so it was a tough choice, but this Alphabet Zoo set caught my eye almost right away. This toy is both fun and educational! There is an animal for each letter of the alphabet and they each have their little cubby for easy storage. On the opposite side (the cover which opens up) there is a brief bit of info about each animal.

IMG_4678Some of the animals were odd choices (like “uriel” for U and “oxen” for X) but I suppose that was because of the lack of choices for those letters.

When you open the board the rest of the way up, there is a “map” of sorts with letters in habitats that match to the animals of that letter. For example, and A in the middle of a pond for the Alligator and a tree in a grassy area with an M for the monkey.

alphabet zooMy daughter (age 3) doesn’t quite have the patience to match all 26 animals in one sitting and really just wants to play with the animals. But I just keep at it and hope she learns something! I think this would still be fun for elementary age kids.

Lakeshore Learning has long been known for quality education materials for teachers and now their Learning at Home collection is made to get kids excited about learning. And you can get 20% off your purchase with this coupon.

What a great educational game! I firmly believe that if you make learning fun for a child, they will be more interested. I like how all the animals have their own little cubby space to keep the game all together neatly. There are so many different ways you can use this to teach as well.

  6. That is so neat! I love Lakeshore Learning! That Alphabet Zoo would be a hit with our kids! I’ll have to add that to our wish list!
