Fauxtisserie Chicken
Fauxtisserie Crockpot Chicken Recipe
The secret method to this fall apart chicken–the crockpot. Though it’s not really a secret, since lots of people do it. It even has a name–“fauxtisserie.” And it is super easy to do.
First, you make five or six balls of aluminum foil and put them in the crockpot, like so:
Then you will add you chicken and rub it with olive oil and seasonings of your choice.
I like this combo:
2 TBSP salt
4 tsp minced garlic
4 tsp dried parsley
1 tsp onion powder
1 1/2 tsp thyme
1 1/2 tsp tarragon
2 tsp pepper
Cook the chicken 4-5 hours on high. If you go to work, or will be gone all day, you could probably cook it on low 8-10 hours. No need to add water and the chicken is still moist and juicy. If you feel the outside is not crispy enough, stick in the oven at 450 degrees for about 10 minutes. Then you will have the prefect chicken with a juicy, fall apart inside and crispy outside. Yum!
oh i love this. crockpot dishes are my fabourite
The broth that comes out of it must be out of this world.
I can’t wait to try your recipe…thanks for the post! Love the foil balls…nice touch!
I have been looking for recipes using whole chickens. Our commissary always has fantastic deals on them but whole chickens make me nervous – just sounds so hard. I will have to try this!
I don’t have a crockpot, but this recipe really makes me want one – now! I’ll have to ask Santa for one! I luv this idea, and the basting combo sounds delish! It looks sooo good to me!!! I adore chicken that falls apart!
will have to try this! THANKS!!
I love it when the chicken looks like that because you know it is good. I like the idea if foil balls in the bottom to keep it from touching the bottom, will have to try that out.
love this recipes. i’m always trying new recipes
I love finding new crockpot recipes (I got one for Christmas and have been using it at least 2 times a week)!! The Aluminum is a great way to keep it from being too greasy I have to try that and marinade that you used sounds delicious to both my boyfriend and me. 😀 I hope to try it soon!
This is new to me! I have cooked a chicken in the crock but it sat in its own juices and was very greasy. It tasted great, but I think I like this idea if having the chicken sit above the juices. Thanks! I am going to try this.
Wow this looks delicious! I am going to make this for my son who by the way absolutely loves chicken and I know he will love this. Thank you for sharing this yummy recipe.
This looks good and pretty easy to make. Thank you for sharing.
I cannot wait to share this with my Mom. She has a rotisserie, but it is in a storage unit, out of state. She is always talking about the darn thing. It really did make some delicious chicken. This is really a fantastic idea, and I bet she is going to love it. Thank you.
Looks so good and I have a chicken in the deep freeze I have been wondering how to cook so my picky eaters will eat it, lol. Thank you!!!
🙂 looks good. always on the lookout for new recipes and would love to try this
I have a chicken in the freezer right now just begging to be cooked this way 🙂
You can't go wrong!
Aluminum foil balls? So weird! But, it looks like it works…
I guess the foil balls are just to raise the chicken off the bottom so it won’t stew in it’s juices. I wonder if you could use other things (like a rack or something else that will fit) so you don’t waste foil. I think your chicken looks pretty tasty!
A rack would probably work if you had one the right size. The balls are to keep the chicken from soaking in its grease. But it is fall off the bone. 🙂
looks so good
This sounds very interesting!?!? It looks like it works very well. I will certainly have to try it one day. Thanks!!!
Yum, I will have to try this. I would assume I could still brine my bird before cooking.
I have never heard of cooking chicken this way, I’m going to have to try it! Thank you 🙂
Looks Delicious!!
I have made chicken (whole ones) in the crock pot before, but always with it on the bottom and with liquid in the pot. I have never tried this “fauxtisserie” style. I am thinking that this may be our next chicken attempt as the whole family does like rotisserie chicken. Thanks!
I love the foil balls, I have never done that before but will be tying that tomorrow night
