Articles abound on the health hazards of using plastic containers for food storage and especially for using those containers in the freezer or microwave. And it can be a hassle to have to change containers to heat something up.
That’s why I was excited to try out Frego containers as an alternative for safe food storage. Frego containers are glass containers with a silicone sleeve (to help with insulation) and silicone lid. It is microwave, freezer and dishwasher safe and just the right size for a sandwich or bowl of soup.
Have one bowl’s worth of soup left over from your meal? Store it in your Frego container in the fridge or freezer. It holds up to 2 cups. Then you can take it out when you’re ready to eat it. Heat it up in the same container. I did remove mine from the silicone sleeve before reheating, but I have been informed that you can leave the silicone sleeve on when heating up food in the oven or microwave.
I love that the Frego container is one that you can use for both storage and heating up without fear of BPA’s leaching into your food. Also, they are recyclable. Even better, the company is committed to helping the community by donating to children’s charities. It is always wonderful to find a company where you can get a great product and also support a good cause.
So here are the great features you get with a Frego container:
*No BPA’s leeching into your food
*Silicone sleeve so you don’t burn your fingers when removing from the microwave or oven
*Break resistant glass
*A leak-proof, dual seal lid
*Plus, the benefits of being recyclable and contributing to a good cause!
You can go to the website to purchase or learn more about the company, and I’m sure they would be thrilled to have you check them out on facebook!
