Have you been confined to a gluten free diet for health reasons? Or, are you trying to cut out or limit wheat products? I’ve been trying to cut back and make better choices but it can be hard! Fortunately, there is an ever increasing variety of gluten free snacks on the market.
I got a really interesting pamphlet from Goldbaums, as well as a nice selection of their gluten-free products, about the effect gluten (which actually means “glue”!) has on your body, particularly if you suffer from celiac disease.
But just because you can’t, or choose not to eat wheat products doesn’t mean you have to never eat things like pasta, crackers and ice cream cones. Goldbaums offers all of these and more, gluten-free!
Goldbaums sent me spaghetti (made of rice), ice cream cones, pop potato chips, flatbread crackers and chow mein noodles.
The pop potato chips are a light, crispy snack you can eat plain or use in a variety of dips. The onion garlic flavor had a good taste, but it was a little strong on the garlic. Some thing with the flatbread crisps (which were roasted garlic flavor).
The ice cream cones and chow mein noodles tasted pretty much the same as their mainstream counterparts to me. The spaghetti tasted like spaghetti, but it did seem a little more sticky to me. It’s possible it was a result of over-cooking, but I felt I cooked it the same as I would “regular” spaghetti.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free for evaluation purposes. However, all opinions expressed are still 100% my own.
