As I continue to try to reduce waste, eat and feed my kids less processed stuff and, usually, save money, I am finding there are quite a few options for reusable food pouches that replace the disposable ones that kids seem to love so much.
One of these options is Sili Squeeze Pouches. But Sili Squeeze pouches are a little different than many of the other reusable pouches out there. These don’t have the plastic baggy feel of the disposable pouches as some other brands do. So if your kids are used to the disposables, these would take some getting used to.
Sili Squeeze pouches are made out of durable silicone. This means the pouches are a little stiffer and it may not be so easy to squeeze out that last little bit or puree without tipping it up, like drinking from a bottle.
However, the stronger material means the Sili Squeeze is prone to last longer than other products of its kind. Also, the Sili Squeeze is easier to fill, I find. The Sili Squeeze has a flat bottom, so you can set it down, and an opening that is always the same size.
So I can set the pouch down and scrape the mashed food from a bowl into the pouch with a spoon. With other pouches I always had to hold them open with one hand while spooning food one spoonful at a time into the pouch.
The Sili Squeeze comes in 2 sizes and 4 colors. I got the “Apple” combo pack, which included a 6 oz with a free-flowing spout and a 4 oz with spill-proof spout. The spill-proof spout is a + shaped opening and this spout is best used for thinner foods. It was great for my 19 month old, while his sister got the free-flow spout.
The Sili Squeeze doesn’t have to be just for kids, either. These are great for a smoothie on the go. You can even put things like yogurt or pudding in the pouches.
These pouches are great for having snacks on the go. And they’re reusable, so no extra trash. And they offer some fun recipes to change it up for your little one!
