Tasty Tuesday: Yellow Cake

yellow cake

You may have tried the chocolate cake I posted a while back, but some people don’t like chocolate, so here is a yellow cake recipe. I’m not a huge fan of yellow cakes, but this one is pretty good and moist. And it also works well with the fluffy frosting recipe I love so much. You need:

2 sticks (1 cup) softened butter

2 cups sugar

4 eggs

1 cup milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 1/2 cups sifted flour

4 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

Beat together butter and sugar. Then add the eggs, followed by the milk and vanilla. In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder and salt and add to the batter and mix thoroughly.

Pour batter into 2 9 inch round pans lined with wax paper and coated with baking spray (I use Baker’s joy). Bake 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees. The top should be golden brown and a toothpick should come out clean when inserted into the center.

I haven’t tried this with cupcakes yet, so I don’t know how many it would make. I’m sure the recipe would work great, though!

  1. I love yellow cake and this recipe looks really moist. I bet it would be wonderful with buttercream frosting!
