Fun Friday: Monster Hands Halloween Snack

monster hands

I came up with this for “monster hands” last year when trying to think of creative Halloween snack to make with some “Twinkie” snack cakes I had.

What you need:
9 Twinkie (store brand is fine) snack cakes, one cut in half
4-6 large (3 inch or so) cookies for the palms (if you want to substitute with another edible item you feel would work just as well–like small cakes–feel free to do so!)
4 regular cookies (or something else to prop up the big cookies)
About 1/4 cup colored icing (optional, but you need this if using M&M’s)
A few yellow, brown, red and/or orange M&Ms (optional)

On a tray or cake board, make 2 stacks of 2 or 3 cookies. Place the snack cakes around the large cookies like fingers on a hand. Use the 2 halves for the thumbs. Take a bag of icing and make little dollops on the “fingers” and main hand and stick M&M’s in the dollops. You don’t have to do this, but I thought it made a more “monster-ish” look (and adds yumminess :-)). And that’s it. Pretty simple.

  1. Wow, these are great for Halloween. If you put green frosting on the hands you could turn them into Frankenstein hands.
