Make it Monday: Cree’s Cinnamon Ornaments

Cree and Scooter love to travel, but when they’re at home, Cree loves doing crafts with her mom. And since it’s around the holidays, Cree and her mom made some cinnamon scented tree ornaments. Would you like to make some too?

These are made with cinnamon, so they have a nice festive smell. The dough is very sticky and can be tricky to work with, so if you don’t use the nutmeg or cloves, you may need to compensate by using an extra TBSP or 2 of cinnamon.

4 oz ground cinnamon (maybe more)

     3/4 cup applesauce

     2 TBSP school glue

1 TBSP nutmeg and cloves (optional)

     Mix it all together.

Scoop some of the dough onto a piece of wax paper and place another piece of wax paper on top and flatten until the dough to about a quarter inch thick, like rolled cookies.

Using a cookie cutter, cut the dough into shapes. You should add more cinnamon if you need to. If you use flour, the ornaments make come out washed-out looking (which is what happened here). Use a straw to punch a hole in each shape.

Allow the shapes to dry for a few days. Then decorate as you wish. Tie a string through the hole to hang on the tree.
