Make it Monday: Hot Chocolate
I’m not a huge coffee fan (I know, I’m weird) so when the weather gets cold, hot chocolate is my go-to drink. Now, the powdered mixes are “ok” but not as good as my homemade hot chocolate. Except maybe the Starbucks hot chocolate mix that costs 4-5 times as much as the other stuff. And this stuff is pretty quick to prepare also.
For this awesome hot chocolate, you need:
2 TBSP sugar
2 TBSP cocoa powder
1/4 cup water
1 1/2 cups milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
whipped cream or marshmallows (I prefer whipped cream)
In a large mug, mix together sugar, cocoa and water until it makes a runny chocolate syrup. Heat in the microwave about 30 seconds to melt the sugar. Add the milk, stir and heat another minute and a half.
Finally, add the vanilla extract and stir. If you have an electric stirrer, this is a good time to use it to make it frothy! Top with whipped cream or marshmallows and enjoy!
Tip: For peppermint hot cocoa, either substitute the vanilla with 1/2 tsp peppermint extract or omit the sugar and reduce water to 2 TBSP and add 2 TBSP Torani peppermint syrup after heating the milk.
Mmmm!! I love homemade hot chocolate!! So yummy!! Im all over this for Christmas Eve this year!!
This is easy peasy.I want some now.
